The First Lady
Born and raised in Trenton, New Jersey, Min. Chaney began her spiritual journey when she was just a youth. The daughter of sharecroppers, Min. Chaney spent much of her early childhood working on different farms, picking potatoes, blueberries and other produce. Raised in the Christian faith, when she reached the age of 14, Min. Chaney declared her salvation and accepted Jesus Christ as her savior. Several years later, she met and fell in love with her husband, Pastor Chaney. Married in Philadelphia in March of 1972, together they began a family and embarked on a new spiritual journey that eventually led them to the ministry and the House of the Lord Church.
Though she had attended several other churches from different denominations within the Christian tradition, in October 1987, Min. Chaney, along with her husband and five children, joined the House of the Lord Church. She found the House of the Lord to be especially accepting and welcoming, and she appreciated its emphasis on the importance of developing a strong family unit. Min. Chaney also appreciated the Church’s respect for the gifts and talents of women, which they were encouraged to actively explore through both Church membership and leadership.
Today, Min. Chaney is a Senior Minister of the national House of the Lord Church and First Lady of the House of the Lord Church at Philadelphia. She is also the Vice-Chair of the National Department of Women’s Work, and a leader of the Church’s Philadelphia Bible Study. With more than 30 years of service to her credit, Min. Chaney is driven more than anything by one factor: the ability to personally affect another’s person life. Min. Chaney’s work is a testament to her inspiration.
